Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are the tours listed on your website and tour book just for groups?

A: The tours that we have listed are for groups of 30 or more people traveling together to the same destination. Occasionally we have tours open to individuals out of our local area of Reading, PA. For a list of these trips you could either call our office or email us, and we would be glad to send the list to you for the spring or fall season.

Q: You have so many wonderful tours, how do I choose?

A: Take our booklet to your next meeting, and find what tours interest the group. Choose as many as you think the group would like for the year.

Q: What do I do if I need more information on a particular tour?

A: Give us a call at 1-800-437-2323. A tour consultant will help answer your questions and send you more information on the tours you select. If you like working with a particular consultant, ask for him or her.

Q: Do your tour prices include the transportation?

A: Because we serve groups from all over the United States and Canada, it is not possible to include the transportation cost in this book. It is your preference as to who will make the transportation arrangements. You can contact the bus company you use, or we can give you one complete price for the tour AND the transportation, based on the number of people that will be traveling with you on your tour.

Q: How do I reserve a tour, and do I receive a contract?

A: After a date is chosen for the tour, your tour consultant will send you a letter confirming the details of your tour. This letter will serve as your contract.

Q: What happens after my tour is reserved?

A: After your tour is confirmed, the tour consultant in charge of the destination you chose makes all lodging, attraction and meal arrangements for you. Your consultant will work with you on your tour until its completion.

Q: When I reserve a tour, do I need to send a deposit?

A: We ask that you send an initial deposit of $200.00 one month after reserving your tour, followed by $25.00 per person after you've received deposits from your group members. The balance is due one month before your tour. Payments are always refundable up to one month before your tour should you not get a sufficient response. We will be glad to work with you in meeting payment schedules.

Q: To whom do we send the payments?

A: Make your checks payable to: White Star Tours, and send them to: 26 E. Lancaster Avenue, Reading, PA 19607. We will send you receipts for all payments.

Q: Is my money safe? YES!

A: White Star Tours is a member of the National Tour Association's Consumer Protection Plan. This plan protects your deposits up to $250,000.00. Look on page 65 of our tour book for more information on this important protection.

Q: If a person has to cancel at the last minute, will they get a refund?

A: We always work with you in refunding everything we can in the event of a cancellation. If cancellations for bus tour occur within two weeks before the trip, there may be non-refundable deposits involved. In case of cruises, airlines, and trains the appropriate penalties will apply. We strongly recommend that you inform your group members about our Travel Protection Plan for those last-minute medical emergencies. An application for insurance can be given to your group members upon request. This protection covers any unused portion of the tour. Some restrictions may apply.

Q: When do I know what motel we will have?

A: About two months before your tour you will receive a letter with information on your lodging locations, including rooming list forms to complete with names of everyone in your group. If you need this information earlier, we will work with you.

Q: Some of my group members have special needs. Will they be able to travel with us?

A: We will be happy to work with you on this. Just let us know in advance any special needs of your group, so we can answer your questions about the accessibility of motels and activities and comply, whenever possible, with ADA. Then indicate on your rooming list anyone who needs first floor accommodations, or a special diet.

Q: Do you provide itineraries?

A: We customize daily itineraries for all our tours and everyone in your group will receive a copy. These will be sent to you after we receive your rooming list. We will also send luggage tags and name tags for everyone, plus a special gift for all!

Q: What identification do we need when traveling out of the United States?

A: You should carry your original certified birth certificate when traveling to Canada, along with a photo identification. A passport is needed for other out-of-country travel.

Q: Do you provide help to the group leader in advertising and promoting the tour? YES!

A: There are several ways we can help you. Our library includes videos on many of our popular tours. In addition, we customize flyers for you, describing your personalized tour. These can be distributed to interested members.

Q: Are there special incentives for the group leader?

A: All our bus tours offer 2 Complimentary Trips per bus of 40 paying people. Our fantastic cruises and air tours provide Complimentary Trips for as low as 9 paying people. With a little effort - and with WHITE STAR TOURS' help - you can travel the world for FREE
