Take in the grandeur of our nation’s capital! Remember sacrifices made for freedom at the WWII, Vietnam, and Martin Luther King, Jr. memorials. View the artifacts at the Smithsonian Institution. Take a driving tour of Capitol Hill, the Capitol Building and Supreme Court. Visit the White House Visitor’s Center. Our experienced guides will show you our great capital city!

DAY

1

Your morning departure finds you on your way to our nation’s capital – Washington, DC. Upon arrival visit a few museums in the Smithsonian Institution complex. During this time, you may choose to visit the new International Spy Museum at your own expense ($25 entry). Following time at the museums, proceeding to your hotel. After check-in, prepare for dinner and a relaxing evening.

After breakfast, depart for a full day of touring. Stop at Arlington Cemetery to see the grounds via the Tram, including the Women in the Military Memorial at Arlington. View one of the largest bronze statues ever cast, the Marine Corps War Memorial’s Iwo Jima Statue. Afterwards, depart for visits to some of the memorials, including the National World War II Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. Enjoy lunch on your own at the Reagan Building, one of the area's newest conference and event facilities with over 55,000 square feet of space including an amphitheater, an exhibit hall, meeting rooms, and reception areas. In the afternoon, meet your guide at the Reagan Building to depart for the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) which is located underground on the east side of the Capitol. You will also visit the U.S. Capitol and the U.S. Library of Congress and tour the outside of the Supreme Court Building. A photo stop of the White House will also be made, followed by a stop at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial. Dinner has been arranged for you in the area, followed by a visit to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts which is a living memorial to President Kennedy. Continue with a driving tour of the illuminated monuments which include the Air Force Memorial, the Pentagon, the Jefferson Memorial, the Marine Corps Memorial (Iwo Jima Statue), the Capitol, the White House, and the Washington Monument.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, check out and travel to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Upon arrival, visit the Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center. See the film “A New Birth of Freedom,” narrated by Morgan Freeman. View the sound-and-light show on the largest oil painting in North America - the Battle of Gettysburg Cyclorama. Longer than a football field and as tall as a four-story building, this stunning oil painting in-the-round of Pickett’s Charge was created in the late 1880s. Interactive exhibits are located throughout this 12-gallery, Civil War museum. Then, a licensed battlefield guide will board your bus and take you on a narrated tour, outlining the history of the famous battle as you wind your way through the battlefield. After your visit, depart for your lodging in the area. Dinner tonight is at a local restaurant, followed by a restful night.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then check out and depart for Hershey, Pennsylvania. Chocolate is not the only attraction in Hershey… it is also the home of the AACA Museum, a truly unique experience! Browse galleries filled with a world-class collection of antique automobiles, motorcycles, model trains and buses. After your visit, head to the Chocolate World Visitor Center to ride the Great American Chocolate Tour tram through a simulated chocolate factory, and grab lunch on your own in the food court. Continue homeward, taking with you wonderful memories of your vacation in historic Gettysburg, sweet Hershey, and out nation’s capital, Washington, DC.
